Are cold-burning smoke flares illegal at English football stadiums. They are harmless (not the firework type flares), does anybody know?

No flares at all, a friend was thrown out and banned for 3 years from all league grounds for taking a cold burning flare into OT.

Taken from the league ground regulations -

"Fireworks, flares, smoke canisters, air horns, knives, bottles, glasses,
cans, poles, and any articles that might be used as a weapon and/or
compromise public safety are not permitted within the Ground."

Looks like you'll just have to set light to a fart instead.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
OB are unlikely to differenciate between different types of flares but in Scotland an Aberdeen fan was recently banned for life from every stadium in the country for taking in what he thought was a harmless colour flare.
