Slade: I should have got more time at Albion [The Argus]

Cardiff boss Russell Slade believes he had a raw deal when he was manager of Albion.
Slade says he should have been given more time by owner and chairman Tony Bloom after saving the Seagulls from relegation to League Two six seasons ago.
Slade, appointed by Bloom's predecessor Dick Knight, lasted only eight months at Withdean. He was axed following his rescue act, with a new-look Albion team struggling again towards the wrong end of the table.
Slade, who steered Leyton Orient to the League One play-offs before landing the Cardiff post, told The Argus: "I will always look back and think was I fairly given enough time? I don't think so.
"We didn't get off to a great start, I know that, the next season but a lot of players went in the summer and it was another period of transition and trying to give the club more stability.
"They are words people don't want to hear but it's just how it is. The difference at Leyton Orient, a club with much smaller budgets and everything else, was that you are given an opportunity to build a team not once but twice, which finished seventh twice and third."
Albion could fall back into the relegation zone if they lose at Cardiff tonight but Slade has no axe to grind with his old club.
He said: "I have a strong affection for the fans there. They were great for me. It was a tough job in the first instance, because we had to stay up.
"I still got on really well with them. They always make me feel welcome. They have a fantastic stadium now and are well established in the Championship."
