Yes if you have sports and or movies, no if you don't.

The ashes in HD is sweeeeeeeet.

Agree with soton seagull above - sports in HD are wonderful.
However as an existing customer Sky don't give a shit about you and you'll have to wait - I had to wait three months for mine to be installed and the engineer told me they were doing all the new customers first. So don't expect to see too much cricket on it !!!

My brother had a similar problem, he told Sky that he was going to cancel his order and subscription unless they installed within a week (after he had waited two weeks) and they were there in 3 days!

Wideguy, pm me if you decide to go ahead, Blue n white is right, waiting list with sky is 16 weeks but as an independent, I can get you up & running with the same deal within the week.

It's ok for discovery/history etc but probably not worth extra money without sport & movies.

Dont forget some decent HD programmes are on BBCHD and CH4HD , with a box that has the up to date epg you can also pick up the odd programme that is shown on ITVHD.

over 30 channels arnt there ??
Yes , coming shortly are LIVING HD and ESPN HD (you need a separate sub for ESPN , which is £9 a month extra) SKY NEWS HD will arrive next spring. Other channels that maybe in the pipeline include FIVE HD , CNN HD , E4 HD and a classic movies channel (not Sky).

When I got mine fitted, it was ordered end of october, and I had the choice of the regular black ox, for which I'd have to wait until january, or I could have a designer box, same cost, within 10 days. I have a designer box.

Nice to see Sky treat the UK identically to here - way back when I was an installer for an independent we could get people Sky+ installed with a two day turnaround and it was 6 weeks if you phoned Sky Ireland! Armstrong's could always get us new stock same-day at that so it wasn't like Sky were short of hardware.

(and there was a slight chance they'd pay us to install it for you anyway, we weren't a major subbie though)

Is it not just a backlog of customers rather than Sky treating them badly. Most people automatically go straight to sky when they want installations or upgrades, few know that agents can give the same(or better) service.
