Simple quick 'bachelor-style' cooking

Anyone got good cooking tips for fast meals that are good?

A healthy one to start off ;

Microwave or poach a salmon steak (takes 5 minutes max).
Heat a can of asparagas, or cream of mushroom or corn, or clam-chowder soup. Pour over cooked salmon.
A head of broccoli or some sprouts can be steamed or boiled as a vegetable side .

The whole thing takes about five minutes . (Do not use frozen, unless thawed first)

I did a couple of chicken strips and coated them in a little egg, then parmesan and breadcrumbs and then grilled them.... grilled tomatoes on the side and viola - dinner in front of the laptop whilst working...well trying too anyhow...

Take a cut of skinned chicken, saute or boil.

Poach (slowly now, no burning the milk and sticking the produce to the pan!) mushrooms and sliced onion in milk and some butter.
Do not cover, it tends to foam over.

Boil some new potatoes.

When mushrooms and onions are ready, sprinkle a (very) little regular (not self raising) flour (keep the sauce creamy, no lumps) and simmer for another minute, mixing in a very small amount of mustard.
Pour over the chicken.

Salt lightly the potatoes , add some parmesan cheese (also excellent with chips, incidentally), with a little butter side .

Quick, simple, delicious . Mum, girlfriend (or boyfriend) impressed.
Voila!

I have just had pitta bread, with tomatoes and some left-over emmenthal (grated) and oregano (that's ori-gah-no, not oregg-anno, for those in the US) on the top, melted in the oven. Yummmm.

Add some mashed or powdered garlic too, toms do well with the stinking rose imho . Better make sure your partner also indulged though, or no kissy kissy :yawn: ???

You big ponce NMH, what do you think you're playing at. You've got all the bints frothing at your cooking tips now.

A REAL man wouldn't bother with any more than a pot noodle and a bag of skips.

:lolol: I hear what you are saying, so;

Poach two eggs, laying havarti cheese slice on each, with a slim-cut piece of green/red/yellow pepper.

Two hearts of artichoke, warmed slightly, glaze with butter.

Fried potatoes (not burnt).

Chopped spinach, heated in a little milk (add garlic or herbs for added taste).

Lay the finished eggs on top of the artichoke hearts. Pour cream of spinach alongside, as with fried potatoes, whih may be lightly sprinkled with parmesan or (for low-cal) sundried tomatoes.

Supreme breakfast treat !
