See Rodger wasn't involved at Lewes this week - an ideal comeback game for him. I fear this is a sign that we aren't going to see Jolly back in the stripes. He was supposed to be on his way back but his continued absence from even Albion XI teams can only mean one thing...retirement. Tough luck Jolly and thanks for the memories.

I hope you're wrong there as I feel he would be a great asset if we could get him back. But I have to share your pessimism at the moment, and I'm also not confident that we're gonna see Roberts again seeing as he's out of contract at the end of the season

Think I would have to agree with Roberts as no one can find out what is actually wrong with him. Hope both him and Simon do come back as both are superb players

I know but it is frustrating when players like Watson are getting contract renewals.

I'm not saying Roger is as shit as Watson but I just don't think he is ever going to come back from this injury. He is getting on a bit you know!

What about Reid?
What about Piercy?

We are a charity for some players to the point where we can't afford to hang on to the ones we NEED!

ooooooooo it frustrates me!! Especially when the club is asking for donations from the fans!

Reid is back and a good player IMO, Piercy is also back and I hope he stays fit as I'm a fan if his.

Hopefully DK has learnt not to be a chairty to the players like he was in the past, but maybe that was his way of keeping players playing at shitty Withdean....who knows!

To be fair with Rodger, Piercy and Roberts we have been unlucky, none have been given long term contracts and nobody can legislate for the injuries.

What is screwing us is the long term contracts players such as Watson and Oatway were given after Taylor left as we are stuck with these players and unable to replace them with more talented ones.

But Reid and Piercy are both playing again and IMHO can do a good job for the Albion ???

Who knows indeed.

My opinion is that we don't really NEED the likes of Reid and Piercy anymore. They were handy enough in the 2nd division but not really up to the championship IMHO.

We now have the likes of Nicolas, Jarrett, Curry, Chippy, Jones, Hart, Hammond, Hinshelwood and even Mayo.

We have plenty of midfielders and untility players that can 'do a job' to cover injuries.

We are a little light up front though. We don't need to be supporting the extended careers of Albion has beens. No matter how tragic their circumstances the team comes before any one player.

Let's off load some deadwood. Let's loan them out! At least we may get some money for their wages and also keep them match fit in the process!

Who would take these players on loan?

These players wouldn't want to go on loan.

We would probably still have to pay most of their wages.

Some of our players seem to be constantly injured: Roberts (always has been), Piercy, Kitson in the past.

Watson has been unlucky; he played an incredible amount of consecutive games.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Lammy has got a very good point although instead of pointing the fingers at succesive managers, I think a bit of naievity from the top has led to us being tied into deals with Watson, Mayo, Jones and to a lesser degree Piercy.

It has also created a two tier wage structure at the club because better players who have arrived recently are on less money than guys languashing on the bench, or propping up the back of the North Stand like Mayo did for most of the tailend of last season.

Nice work if you can get it.

Mayo is having a few good games, well done, thats what he is paid for more than most, but the glut of average defenders/midfielders is a drain on the wage bill, I got slated last season for saying Mayo was finished, I still think he is, and a club like ours with the money problems we have should have no place for sentiment anymore, after all we are being asked to fund these guys now.

When the winter grounds start leaving Mayo lost for pace against average wingers, we shall see who still wants this type of player at the club.

I don't see how Reid and Piercy could be sub-standard but Jones and Hart good enough - Piercy in particular is perfectly capable of playing at this level, as he showed on the occasions he played here last time.

So did Paul Kitson.
