My question to all you manager types on North Stand Chat, should young Jakey make his full home debut against Boston in the LDV on Tuesday?

I think it's about time he did. Time to unleash him for more than 30 minutes, and scare the s**t out of the opposition with his pace, mazey dribbles, and skills that nobody has really had a chance to see yet.

When he came on as sub against Forest Green, he was involved in a committed 50/50 and won the challenge, and after that the Forest Green defenders backed off him :lolol:

So Mr McGhee give him the start

No he shouldn't start. He is too young and would benefit more coming on after half time. He is not used to playing against men, just youth team players.

I disagree entirely. He has played in full reserve matches

He came on as a sub at Middlesbrough and didn't look out of place, in fact he shook off his markers and got into acres of space.

This would be an ideal game for him to start.

He has looked good so far Yorkie but only played 10 minutes. I feel if he were to play a whole game, he would get too tired. He is only young and still growing. IF he plays a full game and IF I am proved wrong, then I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong. But I just think we should nuture Jake rather than stick him in the deep end.

Give Knight a rest - put him in.

Also, play people like Wilkinson, Lee, Virgo etc and see what they can do. Save our main boys for the real challenge ahead.

Nope, the first team should all play, they need to gain some confidence and learn to play football again sometime.

Let him start and have Knigh on the bench - definitely needs a rest does Leon

A deafening silence from the chairman, who I hope is not trying to sell Jake

why would he be trying to sell him, if we play him this season his value will rocket. Give DK more credit, you don't know what's going on behind the scenes

I cannot see that a 17 yr old hasn't got the stamina to play 90 mins. Saying he would get too tired is ridiculous

It's the 30 somethings who get tired playing a full match

play him.

If you're good enough you're old enough and besides reserve team football is not a good learning curve cos its rubbish.

I still think he will get tired as he isn't used to playing against Big Strong men.

Having played with my brother, I have seen him play a few times before. IMHO he will get knackered as he will run and run and run during the game, never stopping. We shouldn't put him in the deep end quickly. Start with a half, and work it up.

But maybe your right Yorkie? Just my opinion. I suppose Mark McGhee will do what he thinks is right.

It would be nice to see him start, Knight definitely deserves a rest, but I imagine McGhee will still want to assess the nominal first XI after saturday's mixed performance. If we are doing well early on expect to see some changes with half hour to go.

I know it sounds ridicuous, but this is tournament that we can win, and whilst promotion is the main aim this season, the longer we stay in it the more money we get, and the more competitive opportunities for fringe players to impress outside of the reserve league. So I think we should, at least, take each game seriously at the start, and not just see it as an excuse to experiment.

McGhee knows that money is tight and that, Knight apart, the rest of the team have contributed precious few goals. Therefore, he needs to assess the goalscoring potential of other squad players.

I would therefore hope (and expect) to see both Robinson and Wilkinson figure prominently in this tie, with Knight playing 60 mins max so he can get a breather before Saturday vs. Lincoln.

I think Robinson should play. There's no need for McGhee to assess Knight as it's obvious he's a class above everyone else at the moment and we can't play them both or we'll look like a right team of Munchkins.

Good to see that Mr. McGhee is going with some youth with Adam El-Abd making his debut in the match.

Please start with Jakey as well, with Leon on the bench as backup. I know it it's a competition that we have a good chance of winning, but we've got to start bringing the youth players through into the first team very soon :bounce:
