Should Campbell Gerrard and Beckham Play Tonight

According to the BBC website, all three are playing against Liechtenstein tonight, despite being only a yellow card away from missing the Turkey match.

Personally I think this is ridiculous. Why risk three of possibly Englands best players against what is, lets face it, cannon fodder? All three are going to be badly needed in Turkey, and I will be less than happy if any of them pick up a yellow tonight and miss it.

OI SVEN..........NO !

They're not really playing are they!! That's clearly absurd!! I heard that England have never lost with Gerrared in the team, so lets keep him & Beckham for the big one.

It's not as if we have players who aren't capable of being better than this rabble. Personally I think we should play those who have something to prove - Jenas, Dyer, Beattie, Terry etc. I'm sure they can do the job required

We could beat lichtenstein with our second team so there is no reason to risk anyone. Especially not gerrard and beckham without whom we would hav eno chance whatsoever against the turks.

Bloody ridiculous!

OK it's all very well wanting to play, but it only takes one mistimed tackle or an officious referee who collects famous names in his little black book and then they won't be playing when really needed against the Turks.

Get it sorted Eriksson.

Plenty of other players who could fill those positions given the chance. As Sonic says 1 mistimed tackle or a over zealous ref and they're out of the next game. Big risk Sveny boy.

Whats the point in playing all these players in friendlies but never giving them an actual chance.

They should be rested, this is a game we WILL win, it also gives them a rest (wasn't long ag people were going on about playing too many games anyway) and makes sure that they will be available for the most important game of the qualifying stage.

Rest them!

They should not play all it needs is a bad refereing decision or a lapse of concentration and we lose them for the Turkey game. Madness.

Of course they shouldnt play for crying out loud.

The thing is, all 3 of them are prone to bookings.

Say, for example, one or two of them get booked and are banned ofr the big game, and we lose.....

Eriksson knows he will get mauled for the decision. :nono:

Becks refused to be rested as he wanted to play he knows he has to watch himself as he is on a yellow, as far as I know Campbell and Gerrard are being rested.

This seems such an easy decision to make, a complete no-brainer.

Beckham and Gerrard MUST be named amongst the subs. If we are struggling (surely not) then we could bring them on for the last 30 mins to try and win the game. But in all probability they will not be needed.

Am I alone in thinking the only reason there is any doubt about this decision is because it's Old Trafford? Beckham has probably had his eye on the emotional return tonight ever since he was sold by Manure, but that CANNOT be the basis of our team selection.

We cannot afford to be without them in Turkey, yet we CAN afford to be without them tonight.

IMHO.
