Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock completed an amazing transfer coup by signing four players in one day.

The Blades' boss first snapped up striker Barry Hayles on a free transfer from Fulham.

Warnnock then signed central defender Leigh Bromby and midfielder Alan Quinn from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.

Wigan winger Andy Liddell became Warnock's fifth summer signing following Jon Harley, who joined earlier from Fulham.

Any chance we might sign someone this summer before all the good freebies go coz we cant afford anyone...

That's exactly the point fella.

Why, oh why do some people only look at transfer fees when they consider the cost of a player. Signing on fees and wages are the real cost of a player nowadays, especially at the Albion's level.

i am gutted about hayles they must be paying good money to get him to move to sheffield, considering the amount of local div 1 sides (sorry can't be doing with the "championship")
