id have to say no, hes played better for newcastle since he retired from international football so playing again for england will mean hes performances for club and country will be poor again

No - he has done his bit. It is a bit sad if this country is asking a footballer who is RETIRING FROM LEAGUE FOOTBALL IN THE SUMMER to play for England :nono:

I think Alan Thompson has been unlucky not to get a call-up during one of the friendlies - he's got a great left foot, which we are clearly lacking.

Shearer would not be the player he once was. He was also very grumpy when things went against him. Stick with Owen, Rooney, Vassell, Beattie & Leon Knight

I don't think Shearer has ever been replaced. When he retired over three years ago there seemed to be a number of contenders to play alongside Owen. Since then.....

Heskey........Clown
Cole.........Sulky
Fowler........Got too friendly with Charlie
Smith.......Ended up in midfield
Beattie......Lacks mobility and guile
Rooney......Scores great goals but is not a great goalscorer
Lee Steele..........Injury prone

The only person who really played well with Shearer was Teddy. I would rather Rooney and Owen as my two forwards. I also agree with Filthy, he has played much better since retiring from international duty.

He is a England legend and can still cut it but will not return because he loves playing 4 Newcastle and he says he gets 2 tired. shame.:goal:

Is this some kind of joke poll.

He is way past his prime for International duty - thankfully he retired at the right time, better decision than some.

Yeah, up front with Gary Lineker eh?

Come on guys get real, he knew International football was beyond him years ago, and if he gave it up he could improve his club form, and he's been proved right.
