:(

That's a real shame, where are our guaranteed 6 runs an over now?

Gillespie has thoroughly unimpressed me on and off the pitch this tour.

He was quoted in the papers yesterday complaining about what a hard time the crowds have been giving him about his hair and his bowling, saying it had gone way too far and was undignified and not what he expected of the English.

What a pathetic, self pitying individual. One crappy tour and he thinks the world owes him a bunch of flowers, a hot chocolate and a hug.

Since when were Australian crowds pleasant to England players?? I remember Simon Jones getting stretchered off with a career threatening knee injury, and the Aussie crowd howling at him to get up, now that was harsh. At least if Gillespie got carried off, I'd expect the English crowd to offere sympathetic applause, not abuse.

And the Aussie players have historically been as bad as the crowds, never short of a few words, so if you're expecting us to lay off you, Mr Gillespie, you're sadly mistaken.

Cheer up Jason, at least you won't be able to hear their nasty, mean, hurtful words from your seat in the stand tomorrow will you?

:salute: :lolol:

i think australia will miss gillespie's batting. he is a very good batsman

granted he's a pretty decent blocker and helps out the higher batsmen, but very good? does'nt exactly score 50s every other game does he!? they need a wicket taker more than someone to block every shot!

he then went and took 65 wickets in the Aussie domestic competition (1 short of the all time record)

he had a spell at Durham recently (last season?) and they sent him back as he was absolutely crap and couldn't bowl in a straight line

he's a slingy borderline chucker, fast and unpredicatable - sometimes dangerous, sometimes CANNON FODDER

I think Australia has made a mistake with this. There's no doubt that Tait is very very quick. I think the feeling is to compete with England in the pace bowling, but though Brett Lee has taken wickets he's been relatively expensive.

Tait took a shed load of wickets for South Australia, but there's a couple of things that they haven't taken into account. Firstly, Australian pitches are very conducive to fast bowlers - English pitches aren't the same & he'll need to far more accurate than I believe he's capable. Secondly South Australia were a poor team - finished 2nd bottom in the Pura Cup. That means they were often being attacked by teams chasing runs for victory or for players setting a large target - of course he would take wickets in that situation. Playing England in the Ashes is totally different
