I know it has been raised before, but now the Club has admitted to being in financial difficulty, why don't they try to raise some money with a share issue, instead of expecting us to give our hard-earned out of love for the club?

Expensive to set-up, and expense is something we can't spare right now.

I think that may be something of a red herring put about by the club and their lackies to stop us from pushing for it. In the BISC meeting minutes with the Directors on 30/11/98, the sum was quoted by Bob Pinnock as £200k.

Quote:
"Bob Pinnock reported that he is considering a number of ways to give supporters a financial stake in the club, but the method and timing are both complex. A simple flotation could cost £200,000, a similar sum to what it might raise. However, the club will be pursuing various ideas."

Now they expect us to give them £2.5 million, with nothing in return. And six years later we still have no "financial stake in the club". They cannot be thinking very hard can they? ???

1. Who would buy shares in a company with 2million debt and little/no prospect of ever turning a profit? Only a fan of the club, who doesnt expect any actual return, in which case why not simply ask them to donate instead.

2. If shares are listed on a proper market (AIM, LSE) anyone could buy the shares. Once falmers built someone could potentially buy up the club and sell the new ground... is that a good plan?

3. If shares a unlisted they would be virtually impossible to trade, so might as well be debentures/loans instead. In which case, why not ask those interested to donate funds to the club...

4. Leeds was a Plc, that worked well didnt it. No football related Plc has done anything other than loose capital value, except ManU which is kept artificially high due to constant rumour of takeovers.

5. We already have enough arguments over ticket allocations, imagine the squeals of "but i OWN the club and therefore deserve a ticket to Spurs over season ticket holders"

Considering we couldn't afford the 44k for extra Tottenham tickets, I think 200k is a little too much.

Just accept some players will be sold & ride with the punches

One thing that is encouraging is that Dick did reject a number of offers before letting Currie go. At least our players will not go on the cheap - they will go for their true value

I've highlighted the bit of the quote that may suggest why it hasn't been done.

Perhapse that could be countered as being a good way to promote the share issue, by promising holders of so many shares guaranteed tickets etc. ???

I wish I was as confident as you that we will get Cullip's true value :(

Well thats something to look at on a Saturday afternoon - a copy of the Club's bank statement.

It would probably be as depressing as the football we play at the moment though.

Well considering he's out of contract in the summer......

Exactely. I think he will go well below his true worth as there is the risk of him going for nowt.

The process wasn't started six years ago! You're suggesting doing it now, the problems would still be the same - Dick Knight has covered this comprehensively over and over again, we can't afford it right now!

Or to quote the voice of the few....Dk doesnt want his shareholding diluted for when the big Falmer payout comes:lolol:

Could we stop Mr Archer buying shares?

Now that would be an interesting dilema for Mr Knight.:glare:

Martin Perry was on fans phone earlier this season and he said a share issue was something they would look into when they get Falmer, i.e. after his pay out!
