Just watching Minder on ITV4, that Chisholm was seriously one of the most underrated characters of era when TV was good(ish)

Indeed, I know him well, it was just today, despite having seen the episode several times his pursuit of “The Syrup” cracked me up

Yep still with us l'm sure, not wikkied him, but l'd guess he must be fast approaching 80 by now.

I thought Chisholm had a Welsh sidekick called Taff, chap with big glasses.
I’m sure Rycott was the same rank as Chisholm, also going after Daley, I’m not sure who came first or they actually did work together and were in the series at the same time.

Yep, correct. Inspector Chisolm was assisted by DC Jones and Inspector Rycott was assisted by DC Mellish.

You probably remember because you also watch it on daytime TV
If I’m at home during the week and put the tv on and I see Minder is on, I have to watch it.

Thankfully no, it was a tribute to Sgt Chisholm rather than Patrick Malahide (although obviously one couldn’t operate without the other) I just felt that back in the day it was all about Arthur and Terry while Chisholm was under appreciated. In today’s repeat he was hysterical!

Yes, he was a tremendous character and cast perfectly against AD.
