Yup, a great actor, and the character of Chisholm was a great personal favourite of mine at the time.

And his bumbling side-kick Rycott. There was talk of a spin off show with these two back in the day.

I thought Chisholm had a Welsh sidekick called Taff, chap with big glasses.
I’m sure Rycott was the same rank as Chisholm, also going after Daley, I’m not sure who came first or they actually did work together and were in the series at the same time.

Yep, correct. Inspector Chisolm was assisted by DC Jones and Inspector Rycott was assisted by DC Mellish.

How, and why, I can remember that I have no idea.

You probably remember because you also watch it on daytime TV :lolol:
If I’m at home during the week and put the tv on and I see Minder is on, I have to watch it.

Patrick Malahide, been appearing on our screens for many a long while. A fine actor.

Singing Detective (as a cad) and Alleyn as an, er, detective

Presumably his next role was in Open All Hours, as an Allen key.

Superb actor, very rarely out of work, which is the ultimate thespian benchmark.

Chilling in the Survivors reboot.

I take it he's still alive and not RIP

Thankfully no, it was a tribute to Sgt Chisholm rather than Patrick Malahide (although obviously one couldn’t operate without the other) I just felt that back in the day it was all about Arthur and Terry while Chisholm was under appreciated. In today’s repeat he was hysterical!

Yes, he was a tremendous character and cast perfectly against AD.

I found a great photo of him frowning a few months back but can't find it anymore.
