Looks like it's already been taken by The Football League at least.

I was unable to update my card (or even register as a new user) for the Villa game.

My account expired at the end of last month, but it didn't allow me to update my details.

Even the advice on their automated email send you to message:

We are sorry but this service is no longer available for new subscribers.Please contact player.support@streamamg.com for more details.

I know the site it somewhat outside of the control of the club. But it appears until a decision is made - unless your account is live you can't access the site.

Effectively shut down BEFORE the end of the season

.. I note the Android app was also removed from the Play store prior to the game ?

This relates to the EFL switchover to the new provider, as opposed to our own decision on the future of Player. So, it effects ALL EFL Digital clubs. The EFL are now unable to take new subscribers until the new platform launches in around a month's time. Ahead of that, we will also clarify our position.
