The Seagulls Loyalty Scheme (SLS)[FOOTNOTE]Albion Announce Ticket Loyalty Scheme BHAFC - 27 June 2011[/FOOTNOTE] is a system introduced by Brighton & Hove Albion prior to the start of the 2011-12 season to determine fans’ priority for match tickets when demand is expected to exceed supply.

[H=1]Background[/H]

The club had previously implemented an [WIKI]Away Supporters Membership Scheme[/WIKI] (AMS), introduced in 2000, to allocate tickets to fans for away games where demand was expected to exceed supply. After some complaints about this scheme, a new system consisting of [WIKI]Gold, Blue and White Membership[/WIKI] was introduced for the 2007-08 season. However, demand for season tickets at the club’s new Amex Stadium was huge and the club announced it would be introducing a new scheme for season 2011-12 to accommodate a season-ticket base now four times greater than the final year at Withdean.

[H=1]Details[/H]

The club’s stated intention[FOOTNOTE]Seagulls Loyalty Scheme BHAFC - 27 June 2011[/FOOTNOTE] with the scheme is to place first priority for away match tickets with season ticket holders, but also to give an advantage to fans who regularly attend away games. Prior to the 2011-12 season, the club awarded points to fans based upon their status with the club.

[H=2]Initial loyalty points[/H]

Supporters who had signed up to be a member of the new [WIKI]1901 Club[/WIKI] were awarded 1,030 loyalty points. Other season ticket holders were awarded 1,000 points. In addition, supporters who had been season ticket holders during the final year at Withdean (2010-11 season) were awarded 250 points. Finally, members of the [WIKI]Young Seagulls Club[/WIKI] were awarded 50 points.

[H=2]Earning loyalty points[/H]

Loyalty points are awarded for match tickets purchased in advance through the club (online, over the telephone or in person at the ticket office). Fans must quote their fan number. For the 2011-12 season, the club are awarding loyalty points as follows:- 10 points for a home league match, an away league match or an away cup match; 20 points for a home cup match.

[H=1]Invoking the scheme[/H]

The scheme will be invoked by the club for all home cup games (1901 Club members will automatically have use of their seat for such games, but other season ticket holders will need to apply for their seats). The scheme will be invoked for away games where it is predicted that the demand for tickets will exceed the available supply.

The club will announce in advance of tickets going on sale whether the scheme is being invoked, and if so how many points are required in order to apply for tickets. Under the scheme, there is no guarantee that a season ticket holder will be successful in applying for tickets, even where they have sufficient loyalty points, if the supply of tickets is less than the demand. Tickets are sold on a first-come first-served basis during the ticket sale window announced by the club in advance.

[H=1]Unanswered question[/H]

In their initial announcement of the scheme, the club made no reference to arrangements for forthcoming seasons, ie whether points would be carried over or whether they would be reset.
