certainly not Billy Connolly. Scotland's answer to Dawn French.

Tragically unfunny, "a national treasure" (Well, f***ing bury them then) and self-important.

He continously makes programs that look back to ''The Scotland '' that I love.

Noticed he f***ed off from there as quick as he could though.

The 1978 Scotland World Cup squad.

Put this into context. The expectation on them to win the World Cup in 1978 was about as high as the expectation of England winning it last year. To be fair, Scotland had a highly decent squad. Their side against Peru was...

Alan Rough
Kenny Burns
Stuart Kennedy
Martin Buchan
Bruce Rioch
Don Masson
Lou Macari
Asa Hartford
Kenny Dalglish
Joe Jordan
Willie Johnston

Tom Forsyth
Archie Gemmell

They also had Gordon McQueen (albeit injured), Graeme Souness, Derek Johnstone in the squad, although controversially 29-goal Aston Villa striker Andy Gray was not picked.

However, as history has told us, they made a right royal f*** up of it, including Willie Johnstone being sent home for being a junkie. They only drew against Iran, and somehow managed to conspire to beat eventual runners-up, Holland. Once again, they were eliminated on goal difference, adding to their tragic record of noble failures.

For the amount of talent within the squad, and the fervour with which McLeod had managed to whip up Scottish patriotism, the World Cup Finals tournament was a disaster.

Still, at least they actually managed to qualify (even if it was with a seriously dodgy penalty against Wales). England didn't.

Gordon Brown

That act he's got where he looks all serious and challenging but he actually cant make any decisions worth speaking about. And all his sidekicks fall about putting their foot in things

Gets me every time
