Not see a lot of mention about this game but did anyone see the highlights (or the full game for those Scottish Seagulls)??

I found it most painful to watch, it looked like a game riddled with errors (by both teams) and twice the Scottish keeper made David James look like Gordon Banks. The Scots were pissed off afterwards but if you ask me they were lucky to escape with a point, they need to improve quickly if they are to qualify.

all i saw was the shot where the scotland ''goalkeeper'' seemed to push the ball back towards his goal and sprinted back to stop it :lolol:

I think Berti Vogts has one of the toughest tasks in European football at the moment. I know it's an over-used excuse in football (Gerard Houiller seemed to say this every year) but he's presiding over a transitional period in Scottish football. When he took over he had to get rid of many of the more experienced players and replace them with younger talent (McFadden, Fletcher etc.). The inexperience of the team has inevitably led to some bad results, and I doubt that Scotland will qualify from their group. With the expectation that the Scottish fans and Scottish FA have, I think he will probably lose his job if they fail to qualify.

However, two or three years down the line, if the squad sticks together they could have a decent side again, and no doubt whoever is managing them then will get all the credit, probably without reference to the fact that it was Vogts who put his head on the block to bring new players in and give them experience of international football from a young age.

A group of us went to a pub that always puts two games on, hoping to see the England game, but a group of bigots, er, sorry, I mean Rangers fans, had insisted that the Wales v Northern Ireland match be the other match. So no England match. :glare:

The Scotland game was pretty poor, albeit full of incident in the first half (not as much as the match in Cardiff, though!). I suppose it could be pointed out that Slovenia are several places above Scotland in the FIFA rankings, presumably having qualified for Euro2004, so the draw was to be expected. I was a bit disappointed in the ref - very whistle-happy, which, when combined with the falling over antics of the Slovenians ruined what could have been a very good, competitive match.
