With one team chasing a domestic treble and the other aiming for an almighty shock, Saturday's Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Inverness Caledonian Thistle has several angles of intrigue.

And one fascinating element is whether the Hampden showpiece will bring an end to Ange Postecoglou's Celtic tenure, with the Australian being heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

Postecoglou has done his best not to be drawn on the issue but, one way or another, Saturday's game will make headlines.

Celtic have the League Cup and Premiership trophies already in the cabinet and victory on Saturday could bring the club their fifth treble in seven years and eighth overall.

But Inverness have ambitions too, with Billy Dodds' side trying to secure their second Scottish Cup in eight years and repeat previous cup feats against the Glasgow giants.
.
Postecoglou targets the one that got away
Celtic and Postecoglou were bidding for a domestic clean sweep last season until Rangers triumphed in extra time of the Old Firm semi-final. But defeating Rangers in the last four has given Celtic the chance to go one better this season.

The League Cup was retained in February, with the Premiership title secured three months later.

As things stand, Celtic and Rangers have each won the treble seven times. Celtic can nudge themselves in front with victory on Saturday and further increase their national record of 40 Scottish Cups.

It would also be Celtic's 115th major domestic honour.

I'm sure it will be a close and evenly balanced match. I know kick off isn't for half an hour, but have Celtic scored 7 goals yet?

I have a bit of interest in this. Celtic are soon to overtake Rangers as the most successful club in Scotland.
Rangers were liquidated but apperently came back as the same club. But yes, apart from the big 2 the league is pretty poor now.
I'm sure Brighton fans would welcome both clubs to the English leagues:D

Hoping for a miracle for ICT because that's what it will need. When visiting the Highlands in March, by coincidence on my arrival day in Inverness, Cale were at home to Partick Thistle. A dismal cold night of lashing rain with wind swirling in off the Moray Firth, an equally dismal game played on a swamp made me question my decision to go. A crowd of only 2,075 suggested the locals knew better. An old boy sitting a few rows back continually grumbled, shouting 'disgraceful Cale' every few minutes. The general aura was depressing. Despite all that, friendly fans in the rather basic fans bar who questioned my sanity in being there and Tennents for £3.50. Glad I went. My partner, maybe not so.....

In what must be the most bizarre running out music, Inverness Cale enter the field to London Calling by The Clash which is kinda strange given the location. All part of the sometimes quirky world of Scottish football.

I went last season also. A special shout out for their wonderfully named mascot, Lionel Nessi.
