It all happened a bit quickly, but I'd say he was pretty unlucky to get sent off. Same with the second NI red card, that was bollox.

What do people think about David Healy getting sent off??

Personally, and strangely, I found myself falling on the side of the referee here. Healy scored, ran over and scissor kicked the corner flag (first booking) and then made a gesture to the crowd (second booking). Sending off, silly boy.

What was funny was watching Andy Gray defending him saying that he got a little over excited, he's not 15 FFS, he's a professional footballer and f***ed up.

Before you answer just think what you would think if somebody did that in a high pressure game against the Albion. Scott McGleish, for example.

I'm with you on this one Chappers. There seems to have been an outcry against it, but if you're going to celebrate a goal like a f***ing idiot then what do you expect ?

Having just been booked for his scissors-kick on the corner flag, he then runs along the touchline and does a big "UP YOURS" signal to the welsh fans (I don't buy this "I was signalling to my family in the stands" bollocks for a second). It was an aggressive, unnecessary gesture by Healy, and he only has himself to blame.

Predictably, Sanchez and the Irish fans are calling it ridiculous, but if Healy had acted a bit more like a professional international player instead of some Sunday pub-team oaf, he'd have stayed on the pitch, the clown.

Apparantly Healy celebrates all his goals this way !
By clenching his fist and stuffing it up in the air towards the oppositions fans with his other hand over the crook of his elbow ? Well if he's that stupid every time he scores, he's clearly had it coming and it was only a matter of time.

More to the point:

The first yellow card was for his over-exuberance. Whatever you think of that rule, the point is that Healy should have taken it as a warning. To continue meant he was refusing to respect the ref. What choice does the ref have?

Precisely.
And he did this in front of a ref who'd already red-carded two other players. Brain cells in short supply in the Healy cranium it would appear.

Is it just me, or is that not the gesture Bob Booker regularly does to us at the end of games we've won?

If not, then he must be getting pretty sick of me doing that back to him.

I wouldn't bet on that. He must have pretty good grounds for an appeal. What on earth did he do to get booked let alone sent off?

Wales midfielder Robbie Savage has told BBC Wales Sport he could have played his last international match.

"I'm seriously considering my international future," said Savage, who was sent off in the World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland.

The Birmingham midfielder received a red card for retaliating to Michael Hughes' wild lunge and accused Hughes of deliberately trying to hurt him.

"A tackle like that is a disgrace. He was trying to break my legs," he added.

"But I'm bigger and better than him (Hughes) and always will be. I got up after the tackle but I didn't even raise my hands.

"It was the normal reaction of anybody. I'm fiery and that's what I get paid for.

"Then I got pushed over again, so to get sent off I couldn't believe it. But it's not about me, it's about the team.

I always seem to be defending myself, but this time I think I've got every right to

Wales midfielder Robbie Savage

"They fought back well in the second half and credit to all the players on the pitch. I've let them, the manager, everybody down."

Hughes was also given his marching orders and David Healy soon followed him to the visitors' dressing room for an early bath after getting two yellow cards for an over exuberant goal celebration.

Savage is currently serving a three-match ban after being found guilty on video evidence of elbowing Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman in a Premiership match.

He pleaded his innocence after that incident, but conceded that the television pictures seemed to show he had caught Kezman in the face.

"In a way I can accept that ban, but this decision was an absolute joke," Savage said.

"I always seem to be defending myself, but this time I think I've got every right to. Michael Hughes went for me in a bad way. He went to hurt me."

Fifa has confirmed the Football Association of Wales has no grounds of appeal over Savage's red card, meaning the Birmingham midfielder will be suspended for next month's Group Six qualifer against England at Old Trafford.

"To get sent off in front of my family is terrible," Savage added.

"It's the first time I've been sent off and the realisation hit me that I'll miss the biggest game I might ever be involved in in my career."
