"We would fill your ground"

I had to chuckle at that one when we struggle to fill withdean.

How many games last year did we actually post a "full house" sign up? I can't remember one ( not counting the away section!)

Shame it won't be full tonight but there you are....some people do not like Withdean. As its pissing down I assume most people will not take the P&R and park near the ground!

I wanted to start something like:-
"you couldn't fill Withdean".

But as most of the time I'm too shy to post on a faceless message board the chances of my solo voice is non existant.

We were singing "Couldn't sell all your tickets".
We didn't know it at the time, but we were singing about your game tonight.
:lolol:

was both of you singing that? it was hard to tell.
oh and was it your announcer that begged the fans for support due to the large number of away fans in the ground?

I was just sitting there on saturday thinking
'I really must thank my parents again for moving away from Reading as soon as I was born.'

He's got a point.Selling only 3,500 tickets was a disgrace.Disappointing to say the least.

Still, at least we can be happy in the knowledge that we've given Royal Ali, somehow ,some satisfaction by highlighting our poor turnout with his lame bid to paper over the cracks of his teams hilarious low support

3,500 is no disgrace at all. Most Premiership clubs would struggle to take that many 90 miles away. Some of our fans need to get their heads out the clouds and realise we're not some club with a huge following of fans all over the world like Real Madrid or Man U so we should be proud of our great away following, not having to make excuses for it.

Yes but if nearly 30,000 go much further to Cardiff just to win a match that enables us to play in this Division, then you would think we'd take more to our 1st match actually playing in this Division?

Add to that new players, new kit, new stadium.

If you don't sell your allocation, you can't take the piss out of us.
However many you take.

Err, I think you can. 11,000-odd Reading fans turning up for the first day of the season is piss-poor. You've got the stadium, supposedly an OK team tipped for the play-offs, and again supposedly a big potential fan base.

And you could 'not sell your allocation' by taking 1,000, or, say, 3,500. Face it, you know we'd have had more fans if the roles had been reversed like-for-like on the first day of the season, and that clearly hurts more than it should. You can still be crap fans and good people :D :D

It doesn't work that way. Say Man United take 50,000 to a cup final.... why don't they take 50,000 to every away game then? :dunce: Cup/play off finals and what not are big one-offs, the sort of game you'd cancel all commitments, scrimp and save every last penny and in my case, sell your own mother to go to.
And I doubt having a new kit out will persuade that many fans to go to a game.

15500 was the attendance. Agreed?
You took about 3000. Agreed?
That leaves 12500, which isn't that bad at all, considering we averaged 12500 including away fans about 4 years ago.
Every time our attendances increase, these people are new fans.
We've never had a huge fanbase, and we've built the stadium for when we have 20,000 regulars.
We planned for the future, as you are doing with Falmer.
I firmly believe that you will average similar crowds to us at Falmer.
What do you think you will average playing in this division when you are at Falmer?

Not quite Ali

15500 attendance. We'd sold 3500 before we returned the 1000 tickets to you, and it was pay on the gate too so I'd estimate 3700 at least.

Meaning 11800 of your mob there. Not a great turn out for the first home game, against a reasonably local club that you have had rivalry with recently, a returning hated manager, a team tipped for the play offs and a nice sunny day too.

Face it, you may talk yourselves up but you're small time.

It wasn't a Cup Final, it was just some lower league one-off match with the sole purpose of getting us to this utopia, for BHA the garden of Eden, the be-all and end-all of our existence at this moment in time.Falmer + Coca-Cola League Division 1 is no good.I would rather have gone to Reading than Cardiff.
