Goals from Joe Gatting (pictured) and Dan Leach earned Albion's youngsters a 2-2 draw with Gillingham in the Football League Youth Alliance.
Gatting scored a terrific header from a set play to put Albion 1-0 ahead; while Leach made it 2-1 latching on to a through ball and slot home.
Youth boss Dean Wilkins said, "The goals were pleasing, because we've been trying to get the players to be more aggressive in the final third. The first one from Joe was good aggression in the air; the second one from Dan showed good movement."
Wilkins was pleased with his team's defensive display against a Gillingham side with a direct approach. He continued, "We've been working on not putting our goal at risk so much - which the players sometimes do, because they're encouraged to play so much.
"The most positive thing was that we did that a lot better, but we did come up against a very competitive team who played very direct football. The game
as a spectacle wasn't the best - but from our point of view we did what we hadn't been doing well better. So I was pleased with that.
"However our quality when we did get the ball down on the floor it wasn't as good as it could be. We've now got to find that balance between making sure
we don't concede, but also when we've got the ball having the calmness to play as when we can do."
Albion: Sullivan, Hinshelwood, Rents, Chamberlain (Leach), May, Fraser, Fogden, Taylor (Cobbs), Gatting, Jarvis, Cox. Subs not used: Gargan, James
Martin, Winterton.
