Just the sort of gritty, organised and determined manager the 'Ammers need to stabilise the ship and attempt immediate promotion back to The Priemership.

However, I can hear the fans bleating already, bye bye beautiful football, The Acadamy has just become The Borstal !

My wife's family are all hammers and to a man have all said that they won't renew their season ticket if he became manager...L1 bound? If you need a 'gritty, organised, determined manager to get them back to the premiership' then WTF are we doing with Gus???

More so than ever, clearly Gold, Sullivan and Brady don't know what they are doing, unless their objective is to just prevent WHU from being relegated to League One.

Be interesting to see how many of their players stay. Parker won't, surely, not sure about the likes of Noble and Collison.

Bolton were a nothing club in the Championship doldrums before Allardyce arrived. He got them into the Prem, kept them there, firmly established them as a Premier League club (finishing 6th one year), took them to a Cup Final and got them into Europe.

Course I suppose none of that would be good enough for West Ham right now.

Er, West Ham have to stop the rot, and fast. The old "too good to go down " tag did not help Leeds and indeed, Man City sliding in to Div 1. We on the other hand are still developing a style of play and club ethos which, given time, may lead us to be called The Acadamy, (or City Technology College) we are still work in progress but, on the up.

i think Big Sam going there is a really positive thing.

his biggest problem now is who is he going to bring in to a squad that will be really de pleated after all of the prima donna's leave. The only player that can hold his head up and walk away with a clear conscience is Scott Parker, and i am not 100% sure he will go. Let's be honest he is a 31 yr old, loves the club, who is going to hand him a long contract, and he will be looking for a 4 yr deal.

if the porn kings can support Big Sam, and give him some cash to buy some half decent players, they could be a force to be reckoned with.

After all, Big Sam's remit is to get them promotion and then consolidate them in the premiership.

Good luck Sammy!!

Was down the pub with a West Ham fan this evening, who is less than thrilled at the prospect of Big Sam taking over. And to be honest, I would feel exactly the same if he were to become manager at the Albion. Hoofball all the way.

Anyone that thinks Big Sam is not a fabulous appointment for the Hammers consdiering they are a Championship side is not a great appointment is deluded. He commads alot of respect and is great at man management, However, he has a GIANT head, which annoys me.

Who the hell was he expecting then?

There's a lot of talk about "the sort of football" managers play, but it's nonsense. Do fans really care about the sort of football you're playing, if you're picking up results? It only seems to matter when you're struggling and it's an easy thing to moan about. If Sam Allardyce goes there and plays the percentage football which got Bolton promoted and kept them there, and which has sustained Blackburn's Premier League place for the last couple of years, I doubt West Ham fans will care too much.

A club who have lost their way and, perhaps more importantly, lost their soul.

West Ham used to stand for loyalty, homegrown players, passing football and a touch of flair. That's all gone with this appointment. I see this as akin to Spurs appointment of George Graham, i.e. we've tried everything else, we're desperate, we'll try anything. He might steady the ship, but he certainly won't be doing it the West Ham way.
