Meopham, Kent.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if we get Salako.

However, a central midfielder is probably more urgent now that Jolly and possibly Oatway are both facing operations.

Then a replacement for Henderson would also be a priority ahead of Salako, but as I say, I do expect it to happen at some point.

Salako is a good player - used to play for us before we released him to Reading.

Indeed he did, and then we took him on, thought he was quality, and then he turned shit at Div 1 level. Looked good in Div 2.

Salako played well on Wednesday against Oxford, bear in mind that it was 3rd division opposition.

Here's an article about John and his future at the club, taken from our official site yesterday:

He asked for a transfer, almost defintely to Division Two, so its very likely that he could go to Brighton.

In any instance, it could be a sign that Coppell is staying.

Of course he's staying Wilts, we have issued a 'Hands Off' to Reading, and you are an honourable club when it comes to these things...

(or Coppell is shifting the crap out of Reading's squad before he gets there)

I hope he makes me eat my words, but I thought he was a good player at his peak, but very inconsistent (although a £1.5m transfer would contradict this). At 34, I really don't think he will make much imapact.

Here's his clubs:

Charlton Athletic Reading 26/01/2002 Loan Cancelled
Fulham Charlton Athletic 21/08/1999 On Loan
Coventry City Fulham 08/07/1998 Free Transfer
Coventry City Bolton Wanderers 26/03/1998 On Loan
Crystal Palace Coventry City 03/08/1995 £ 1,500,000
Crystal Palace Swansea City 14/08/1989 On Loan

Profile:

Name John Salako
Squad No 17
DOB 11/02/1969
Height 5ft 10in
Born Nigeria

Not sure exactly what this means, but THIS has just come up on our official site.

They tend to respond to rumours on the internet pretty well by putting out something by the player involved. He wants to play for us more often apparently, so whether that is a call from him to move away (following the fact that he probably won't start on Saturday) then who knows.

Salako would be better than nothing

BUT...

Surely he would be on => wages than Owusu and I know which one I would prefer. Maybe we will take Salako on loan.

Owusu great. Can't get that excited about Salako though as he's been pretty ordinary the last couple of times I've seen him play.

Lloyd and Leon up front should mean that irrespective of the sort of delivery into the box we have a chance. High, low, underhit, overhit, whatever. A real little and large due in the box as opposed to Henderson who favours early delivery outside the box at chest height, perfect weight, with his back to goal. Oatways passes are hit too hard to suit Darrius (or anyone) but that's besides the fact that Hendersons first touch often lets him down anyway.

Anyway, show's that we have dough available should the need arise.
