15 year old schoolboy in otherwise v strong Albion reserve squad for tonight. Anyone know where he plays? Must be OK if he's getting some exposure at this level so soon.

Ryan Thomson is a local youngster who started playing for Mile Oak from the age of 6/7, he had a short spell with Arsenal at aroung 11/12.

He was always considered an extremely good prospect and I am pleased that he is progressing so well.

I dont remember anyone saying 'so soon' etc.

Just seemed a reasonable quote indentifying an unusual event at the club.

Good luck to him and as for Michael Owen.......whats your point ???

Following NMH's comment about England players I just wondered at what age Owen first played for Liv reserves. I wouldn't have thought it was any earlier. The same goes for Rooney - although he played for the first team at 16.

Norman Whiteside made his debut for Man U against us in Cup tie at the Goldstone and was only 16, but built like the proverbial shithouse door. If my memory serves me well a certain David Beckham also made his debut in that match.

Remember that day well. The United fans were singing for Norman to come on as a bit of a joke. Little were we to know that Whiteside would poleaxe Ramsey at Wembley a few months later. This was the early 80s too early for Beckham.

Ryan ThomPson goes to Hove Park. I played in the same team as him for a season and a bit (Withdean FC after we changed our name from Mile Oak), he then went to the Albion. He did have the chance to join Arsenal but his dad thought he was too young I think. When we were younger he was probably the best player I've ever seen but in the last few years everyone else seems to have caught up from our school match experiences.

Also just wondering how Big Gully knows so much???

He came on for Rents (who was playing left wing last night) but only had 5 minutes so not much time to assess how he did.

I am a stalker.....!!

I watched him as my brothers boys was the same age...and I watched him in the games against him and also at Summer tournaments.

Smashing young player then and I guess he still is.
