Simon Rusk is taking over as Albion's under-21s coach on a permanent basis.
He steps up from an equivalent role with the under-18s to replace the QPR-bound Simon Ireland.
Rusk had been covering the role since Ireland's departure and took charge of a game against Wolves this week.
He also had a brief stint with the first team in the wake of Sami Hyypia's departure in December.
The under-18s have made an impressive start to life against other Category One clubs this season.
Chief executive Paul Barber said: "Simon has done an excellent job in his role as under-18s coach and his team have performed extremely well in their first season at the top level.
Joaquín Gomez, who was promoted from the academy to the senior coaching staff by Oscar Garcia and retained by Hyypia, has left the club.
