To the great delight of the Antieddies on here, there are rumours among credible media sources that Eddie is on his bike this week.

Looks like Steve Borthwick has been lined up (Surprised it's not Rob Baxter, but maybe he's not available)

The Telegraph yesterday reckons its done.

Either Steve Borthwick, or Gatland until the WC, to takeover.

I like Jones, some good moments eg the wins in Aus. But overall it feels like a wasted 7 years. Marked by:

- An eternal turnover of players. Brilliant backs are shunted to one side, for the next best thing.

- An RFU and Jones obsession with long term planning for WC’s gone mad. Whilst Ireland and Wales seemed to fight for every 6 Nations win with their best, battle hardened 15, France now too. 6 Nations came and went.

A far cry from the largely golden years 1987 to 2003, where England teams with measured brutality and gifted backs went out to win every international and usually did. Sometimes living in the moment ain’t a bad thing.

Sadly Gatland has been re-appointed by Wales today

Every coach/manager has a sell-by date when any positive influence for the team has ended and it's time for a fresh face.

Despite edging a close series in Australia 2-1 this Summer, Eddie Jones went past his 2 years ago after the 2020 Six Nations.

1999 World Cup Finalists
2020 Six Nations 1st (W4 L1)
2021 Six Nations 5th (W2 L3)
2022 Six Nations 3rd (W2 L3)

With just a couple of months before the 2023 Six Nations and 9 months before the World Cup in France, any change has to happen now.

OK it’s the Mail but it is written by a World Cup winning manager and it’s hard to disagree with anything he says about Jones. Let’s get that winning mentality back quickly.

Ridiculous decision 9 months out from a World Cup. What hope do we have with a new coach with barely any time to get ideas across. The only way you win a WC is with continuity, there are no outstanding teams and we would have had as good a chance as any. He's been in charge for seven years and is chucked less than a year before the WC. Stupid.

I think the team largely picks itself, there's lots of experience there and game time together. I don't think the new man would have to do a lot technically, just a few tweaks here and there. How Jones has ignored Ben Earl of Saracens is incredible; the bloke has been on fire, he is infectious, energetic, dangerous and HAS to be in the side.

Rob Baxter doesn't want it. He is too happy at Exeter

We were going to be shit under Jones (as we have been for most of the last year). Were you genuinely expecting us to be mking an impact under him at the WC. What do you base that on? We have gone backwards at pace. Fans had lost faith and it seems the players had too on recent performances. Good riddance for me
