Just seen this again: AMAZING stuff...

The Withdean Experience, how best to convey?
To sit in the rain, twenty four quid we'd pay.

The PA was awful, the catering poor
Row S in block U had a hole in the floor.
...
The away fans complained that they barely could see
Don't know they were born - least their ponchos were free.

Watched a real mix of players - had hopes for them all,
But for each Paul McShane there was one Shane McFaul.

A fortress to start with, it went horribly wrong
T'was a home back in Brighton, but for ten years too long.

We had our good times there, though more often poor
At least 'til that day that Gus walked through the door.

So as we move onwards, I beg of you please
Raise your glasses my friends, to the Theatre of Trees.

Yep, well done Commander. Superb effort.
:jester:

Actually, I'm wondering what stuff I can STEAL from NSCers. I wonder if Not Andy Naylor or Tooting Gull would be good enough to PM me some of their articles appearing in the national press. I might fancy putting my name to some of those.

Excellent!

Surely you could turn your talents to crafting a new song or two for us to sing at the Amex?

Yeah - come on Commander - give us something else!

Yeah come on- put that emotional one about the Chernobyl disaster you did on here?

I remeber when you used to read it to me when we were punting up the Thames

Alright it wasn't really me. It was Hans Kraay fan club.

But thanks for all the praise anyway, I could have easily written it if I'd have wanted to.

There are lots of poems far less worthy of being on the wall in the South stand at the Amex.

The chaps who did the design work at the stadium did contact me to ask if they could use it. I agreed, but unfortunately they went and used only the very last line "Raise your glasses my friends, to the theatre of trees", which in isolation means sod all, and doesn't convey the tone of what I was aiming for at all.

It's at the Southern end of the ESL concourse, in foot high letters.
