Just been to visit my favourite shop and have been told they're moving to a bigger shop on Trafalgar Street. Now the initial shock has subsided I think this is a very positive move and a much better location; especially if the railway station go through with the plan to open up a Trafalgar Street entrance/exit.

Good luck!

Surely a far worse location in terms of visitors? That new entrance to the station is by no means a given and won't happen for a long time if at all. Better for me admittedly!

That's a bit quick. I was in there about 2 days ago.

I very much doubt the new entrance is in the their thoughts to be honest.

I totally disagree about the location. Being on the edge of North Laine will surely be better for record buying foot-fall than being in the middle of a load of jewellery shops?

There was talk of it in the Resident RSD queue. RR isn't my favoured choice (even if it will be closer when they move) but I'd like them to stay open as I used to go in there from the Chain With No Name days. Good luck to them.

Far more tourists in the Lanes though... and there aren't THAT many jewellery shops. I guess the rent will be cheaper though.

I prefer Resident but this will bring Rounder closer to my home so I'll have to reassess the situation.

Trafalger Street surely has more footfall then Brighton Square, no?

It's in a more trendy area, so may get more business, tho you have Resident Records nearby for competition. Shame in a way as it was one of the few interesting shops in the Lanes if you're not into boutiques or jewellery!

I know that Mick at Urban Records moved from the North Laines because of the high rents there....god only knows what the rents must be in the Lanes.

No, it's more antique shops in The Lanes now (all flogging second hand jewellery).

Good point. Whatever they are selling though, it's not really the market Rounder desire. Personally I do not even spare a second for the other shops in the square where they are located. I feel Trafalger Street will have many more record buying punters.

Given that beer shop is over the road and The Albert is at the top this generally positive move does come with certain concerns though

Whilst they do overlap in some areas, they do differ and I feel they compliment each other as well.

I'm a staunch Rounder person though, aside from when I lived in London I have always purchased records in their store. It suits my tastes and I first used it when I was a teen and it was a chart shop.
