They will end up being like Spurs if not careful linked with everyone buying no-one.

I suspect this is a backlash to the Woodgate sale.

Why would Rooney want to join a side with a back four of Carr, Elliott, O'Brien and Bernard, a side not in the Champions League who struggle to hang onto crocked defenders with a lame duck manager and disgruntled top stars?

It sounds like Freddie Shepherd is trying to appease the fans, a move doomed to failure. I cannot see Newcastle winning anything with that buffoon running the ship - is he mates with Rupert Lowe??

i doubt rooney would want to leave his beloved everton to go to newcastle even if everton accepted the deal, which i doubt they will. the only clubs he would go to are chelsea, man-u or real madrid and arsenal if they could afford him.

Totally agree.

I always thought teams were built from the back not the other way round.

Offer rightly rejected by Everton

Apparently Everton have rejected Newcastle's offer, saying they don't want to see Rooney leave; this has been interpreted by journalists as a desperate attempt to keep Liverpool's vice industry afloat.
