I'd love it to be "roof on" myself. Is there a choice - or is it only an option when it's raining?

The roof only gets closed if its raining hard or has been raining for some time. Why did we not close the roof at Withdean last night and then I would not have got soaked?:lolol: :lolol:

I doubt it'll be closed which is a shame, imagine the atmosphere of 72,000 fans all under one giant roof!!

Not strictly true, as the roof has been closed for a couple of Welsh international friendlies during good weather. The vistiting teams requested that the roof be shut so their players could experience playing in an 'indoor' arena.

However, the general stadium policy is to keep the roof open unless there has been, or is likely to be, heavy or prolonged spells of rain.

Do we get the option? I like that.

Where would you like to sit sir? And would sir like the roof open or closed?

:)

I went to the Div 1 play off final 2 seasons ago (I think I can see myself at the far end in the photo above). It was a lovely warm, sunny day...

...and the roof was on. The TV people had asked for it to be closed to get rid of shadows and both clubs agreed.

In my opinion it was a mistake. They let off fireworks at the start and the smoke hung around the stadium for the whole game. The pitch sweated and players started slipping over. The atmosphere wasn't enhanced - the echoey sound was like being at a swimming gala, not a football match.

So I vote to leave it open.

Open please, football's an outdoor sport, and if we can't make an atmosphere without the roof shut, then what's the point?

Can we have it open in one half and closed in the other half so we can sample both?
