So true about Luxembourg, signal was crap under the bedclothes too!

I remember one of the pirate ships sailed around the coast. Was it radio London or Caroline?

Caroline split into two stations.
Originally there was Caroline and Atlanta but they joined forces and Atlanta (on board the Mi Amigo, the boat that sank) became Caroline South whilst the MV Caroline started broadcasting as Caroline North. It then upped anchor and sailed along the English Channel to the Isle of Man, broadcasting all the journey.
Bucket list. I've got to be brazen and say that, as a DJ I've played at every venue or event I've wanted to do, including radio. But I never got on to Caroline. Visiting the second ship, the Ross Revenge, now moored in the River Blackwater in Essex is high on my 'must do' list. Get through this virus and I reckon it will be my birthday present to myself.

I spent what little money I could get on batteries for my tiny transistor to listen to Radio Caroline and Luxembourg when a sprog.
RIP Ronan, part my introduction to the art of music.
