Sad news this morning that Mr Metcalfe passed away yesterday.

A truly memorable and outstanding teacher. Many fond memories, especially from Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

Scary man often hit you with a board rubber on the back of the head! I also remember Mr Bentinicks mad Basketball lessons. He always looked like he was going to explode!!!

He taught (and caned) me at Queens Park school in the 70's. A great enthusiast for boxing, long-distance running and the Duke Of Edinburgh scheme.

I remember him well he was the history master at Queens Park he also ran the boxing team he was very strict and caned me a few times I seem to remember you could buy football boots from him and pay on the weekly very sad news RIP sir

Ruthless disciplinarian but also laid some really solid foundations in many a life with his D of E work and quality teaching. He was hard but I always respected him. Must have reached a fair age.
