RIP Jim Thompson. Ex - Burgess Hill and Shoreham Manager.

I'm really shocked. I opened the back pages of the Argus tonight and discovered that Jim had died because there was a minutes applause for him at last night's match. I didn't know him in a football capacity. I knew him because he was the bass player in my band a few years ago and one of the nicest, most friendly chaps I've ever had the pleasure to know.

His family were lovely, his daughter got up on stage with me at the end of the evening on many occasions and sang a great rendition of 'California Dreaming'.
To all Jim's friends and family, there must be a huge hole now that Jim has left. He was known to many as 'Big' Jim Thompson, and 'Big' described his character, his soul and his heart. I have many happy memories and it was a honour to know Jim. Sleep well fella xx

the minutes applause was well respected at the game last night, with the vast majority of the crowd joining in, even though a lot of people, like myself had never heard of him
