They've only just killed his character off! Absent from the program for months (AFAIK), he's died peacefully aged 98.
I wonder if they were seeking a new actor but couldn't find one with a good enough likeness? (in voice, of course!)

There's a limit to these things. We had three different Dan Archers - we'd be on about our seventh by now. Sometimes you just have to let go......



.....as I have, more or less, with The Archers. Can't distinguish who is who with all the youngsters these days! Can they not get a new Walter Gabriel? Or Jimmy Grange or Debbie Hood? - I liked them!
