Portsmouth's highly rated defender Richard Duffy is being linked with a loan move to the Withdean Stadium.
Seagull's boss Mark McGhee is searching for new faces after a disappointing start to the season with defeats by Reading and Plymouth leaving Brighton pointless and at the foot of the table.
The Welsh under-18 defender is available on a long-term loan as Pompey manager Harry Redknapp seeks to give him some first-team experience.

Can Redknapp afford to loan any players out, what with his tiny, threadbare squad and all that?
