Given that we only have one striker can play at the moment and his only just out of nappies. I'm surprised we're not favourite!

to be honest, if you try and look at it from a neutrals point of view, i'm surprised we're not favourites to go down.

the play-off winners are normally thought of as the weakest of the promoted teams, especially if they haven't significantly improved their squad and don't have the finances to do so.

obviously, from a completely non-neutral point of view i think we'll be fine. i reckon we'll finish above rotherham, gillingham and crewe or burnley.

Didn't I read somewhere that the play off winners actually have a good record of staying up?

But I prefer the Ladbrokes odds to be champions

Watford 50/1
Brighton and Hove Albion 100/1
Burnley 200/1
Crewe Alexandra 200/1
Gillingham 200/1
Rotherham United 200/1

That makes us safe then

I always find these threads encouraging.

Q. What do we have to do this coming season?

A. Perform better than Rotherham, Crewe and Gillingham.

That shouldn't be too difficult.

Why is everyone so upbeat about beating Gillingham...whenever we play then we are shite! Rotherham are not that bad a side and I cant remember the last time we beat Crewe.

At least we get to see some decent grounds again ( and pay rediculous prices of course)

A leeds fan friend of mine reckons they will go up, so I had a £50 bet with him saying that they won't. I reckon it's a pretty handy bet. I fancy laying off (is that the right term?) against it just in case. Can anyone check the ladbrokes / corals / bhabet sites to see what odds they are? I'm not allowed on those from work. Totesport down the road has got them at 3/1 to get promoted (not to win) which I reckon I can do better than. Any help would be very welcome.

I believe that the bookies have got it about right.

There is no reason to suppose that we will stay up with the squad as it is at present. Indeed, we have lost Iwelumo so we are weaker than in May.

Rotherham, Crewe and Gillingham all managed to stay up last season, and I rate Plymouth and QPR, so we've got our work cut out.

We need signings.

Leeds are 9/1 champions and 9/4 promotion on ladbrokes

Our problem last time apart from the 12 match bad run which we could have overcome is that we tend to lose at home to the sides that we are nearest to at the bottom of the league or sides that are expected to be at the bottom. We then look at it in April of next year and say if only we hadn't lost at home to Gillingham Crewe Burnley etc. Yet we beat the good sides crazy I know. but it happens. Last time it was Gillingham Walsall Grimsby.

Hills are offering 3/1 about Albion being relegated.

That's a massive price in my opinion, and I've got £250 worth.

The manageress of the Hills shop in central Cardiff examined my slip when I handed it over on Tuesday and told me that I could only back the double at special odds because the bets were related contingencies.

At first I had no idea what she was talking about. Then it dawned on me that I'd written 'Brighton & Hove Albion to be relegated from the 2004/05 Championship' on the slip.

She thought Brighton and Hove Albion were different teams......

A long hard season lies ahead. But let's just enjoy it. After all, how many of us really expected to go up last year? I certainly didn't.
