That's right, we join the elite 7 or 8 clubs to be exempt to that stage of the League Cup. That's nothing to be sniffed at given our appalling record in the competition; 3rd round would probably be above average

How very satisfying that Chelsea have to start in the 2nd, and even more so if they get knocked out before we've even kicked a ball in the competition!
