With Fulham recalling Rehman (he wasn't living up to his early performances anyway) and Pethick just not good enough in that position, we really need McGhee to show us just how good his contacts, and his ability to spot a player, are.

Or does anyone disagree? Does anyone thing Pethick is the man for the role alongside Carpenter?

Personally, I think this is a position we desperately need strengthening.

We shouldn't be playing players out of position.

Why wasn't Daniel Harding playing (I was out of the country till yeaterday) ?

Pethick is not a midfielder on Saturdays performance. He did not break up play and his Steven Gerrard Hollywood passing attempts were plain woeful (I counted 5 in a row which found the wrong target). We need a Central Midfielder as a matter of urgency.

Whoever we bring in needs to have Vision (which Rehman looked perfect for when he first arrived) as we are currently not linking up properly between attack and Midfield. On Saturday we weren't breaking down attacks either..

Trouble is I don't know who at the club would do better, and that's not to say Pethick was anything other than garbage.

I guess we do need to look at the reserves and youth. Who played in central midfield for the reserves last time out?

Harding warmed up and got as far as the sideline on Saturday and then MM changed his mind and he put his tracksuit top back on.

We need a couple of midfielders on short term loan until our injured players are fit again.

The players look like they all need a collective lift, and I think its about time we actually bought a player on a permanent contract, just for a change (!)

I hope McGhee will bring in a creative central midfield who can get forward and, above all, PASS THE BALL. This has overtaken the 2nd striker position as the most urgent priority.

I'm sick of loans and I don't think it does a lot for team spirit either.
