Referees for Euro

The Guardian has a list of the Euro 2004 referees. Of the 12, 11 speak several languages, most of them speak 3 or 4. Just one referee speaks one language, good old Mike Riley from England.

Do you think he'll just shout louder and louder until he's understood?

Are they sure about that? I'm certain you have to speak 2 languages fluently to even get onto the FIFA list?

Mike Riley is interviewed and says" I don't really speak any other languages, although I speak enough football French, Italian and Spanish and so on."

Sounds like the players are going to be able to call him all sorts.
