Real Madrid want Owen for £25 million / players going abroad

But Houllier says he is not for sale.

If Owen were to go, it could make or break his career. He could either play week in week out for the best team in the world, obviously will be able to fit in with Becks quite quickly and improve his game. Or, he won't play at all, which will affect his England performances.

I think more of our players should play abroad (but only in Spain, we are a better league then Italy or Germany). They play less games, have great weather (!) and learn a more stylish game. This will benefit England as an international team.

What does everyone else think?

I don't agree that we are a better league than Italy. Their worst is probably worse than our clubs but crucially there are 7 or 8 clubs good enough to win a champions league spot in Italy in any given year, whereas we have 4 or 5. And of those 4 or 5, Newcastle are already out, and Arsenal will be very very soon.

Best time to go, when the kid is young. Will grow up bilingual (excuse the bad spelling) and have a better life in Madrid then scouseland.

He should take up this offer immediately especially as Beckham already there.

Get away from the git Houllier ASAP - useless manager.

He should go. He's selling himself short at liverpool, they'll never win the league / get to the semis of the champions league, which is the kind of achievement / stage someone of Owen's quality should be playing on. Plus, he's a bit of a sicknote, and with him not likely to be picked week-in week-out he'll get less injuries /have more time to recover, which will make him look a better player. Figo's on the way out at the end of the season, so there will be slightly less competition for places as well.

If he has any sense he will take this opportunity. Better money, better life style and most importantly he will improve as a player playing with the likes of Beckham, Ronaldo, Zidane etc.

It's a no brainer son - leave Merseyside like most other Scousers do !

England played thier best football in the early 90s when half the squad where out in in Italy. I reckon Italian league would be best for Owen, the challenge of their defenders week in, week out. But then he could have a field day with the Spanish defenders which seems to be rather tactically weak.

It criminal that Liverpool are where they are, with such a strong team. clearly Houlier's best days are gone.

I'd rather Spain than Italy - remember Van Basten, probably one of the most gifted forwards for a while had his career terminated by constant kicking in the knees by Italian defenders, funny how Ronaldo seems fitter since in Spain !
