Rangers' directors throwing a hissey fit over the proposed changes to the Scottish football re-structuring. Three obvious points they've missed:

1). Under the present system, they'll win the fourth division of Scottish football this year; two more promotions and they'll be back in the SPL. Under the proposed new system, they'll win the Scottish fourth division this year - and two more promotions and they'll be back in the SPL........so what's their problem? Home crowds of sixty thousand, and record gates for all the 'little' clubs they're playing - so it's good for Scottish football and their fans are staying loyal.

2). If they resign from Scottish football, who is going to let them join their league? (Short answer - nobody: won't bother going into details).

3). If they do establish this Northern League thing, or whatever daft idea they've got in mind, are their fans going to thank them for away matches in Smolensk, Azerbaijan, Kiev, or wherever? Rangers are a club where most of there support is local to Glasgow - and most of their supporters, although the hearts might be willing, the purses would be weak - no chance of travelling thousands of miles for their away fixtures.

So - what planet are the Rangers' directors living on? They've ballsed up big time - so just get on with it, and stop making pillocks of yourselves.

Right here, right now
I think Rangers feel that this new proposal is another thinly veiled swipe at them. It it obvious that they will win the 3rd division this season however, it will all be pointless if the 2nd and 3rd division are merged at the end of the season.

I have some sympathy for them as it makes the rest of this season pretty pointless for them and the bottom half of the second division.

Also, should the new proposal be approved it will virtually guarantee that no club from the merged 2nd/3rd division will get promoted at the end of next season as, more likely than not, Rangers will win that too making the next season and a half pretty pointless for most clubs.
