Something to get the brain boxes ticking on Bank Holiday.

Who are the only two players to have played in major cup finals at Wembley and Lord's? And there's an Albion connection to one of them.

Has the surname Gatting got anything to do with it?

Nope, good guess. But Steve didn't play first class cricket and Mike wouldn't have appeared at Wembley - not unless there was a pie-eating contest.

Graham Cross played for Leicestershire in the B&H final, for Leicester City against Man City in the FA cup final and most importantly for us in 1975-6

Graham Cross was the business as well. Who was the other bloke in central defence with him, (when Andy Rollings wasn't playing.)?
I think it was Denis someone, Burnett?

We had a quality defence then, Harry Wilson at left back & Ken Tiler on the right. Happy days!!!

Indeed it was Dennis Burnett who we got from Millwall. The other one I remember from that time was Graham Winstanley - a seasoned pro as they would say in my all star sticker abum (that is had they covered the 3rd division).

Well done Cheeseroll, Graham Cross is indeed one of them. He was pipped for the honour of being the first player to play finals at both stadiums by just a few months.

The other player had no connections with the Albion, although I think he played against us.

This is tough.

For a start, we are all assuming that the finals were in football and cricket - details which are not in the question, it may be noted.

You bastard - this is going to do my head in.

To put your mind at rest Fatbadger, it is football and cricket.

And no, it's not Denis Compton. The first Lord's final was in 1963 after he retired.

Well done Ben's Grandad. It was Jim Cumbes. B&H Cup final for Worcestershire in 1974 and League Cup final for Aston Villa in 1975.
