Question Time last night

Did anyone else find this a little bit pathetic last night, the only guy looking at anything objectively was that geezer from Casualty.

Geoff Hoon and that King geezer from the Tories seemed to just use it as an exercise in belittling eachother instead of actually answering any of the questions put to them (I know they are politicians and all but it got a bit ridiculous). The two women to the right of Hoon pissed me off a treat too, especially the knobhead on the end who seemed to excuse the behaviour of those who dumped carcasses in our streets by saying that hunting was in fact a good way of removing dead animals from farmland and that they got their point acros. f*** off.

On the last point - the 'knobhead on the end' was right (I think her name is Ruth Lea, Director of the Centre for Policy Studies) .

My mum has kept dairy goats for the past 20 years or more... and whenever she had a fatality, or a goat that needed to be put down, the hunt used to come deal with it.

They would do the 'humane killing' (which I witnessed several times - not nice, but necessary) and take the carcass - and at no cost.

Now the process requires a vet, considerable expense, incineration or burial and a lot of paperwork. It will become a significant issue for farmers and livestock managers.

I don't agree with actions of the protestors, it was misjudged - and has only caused greater ill-feeling.

I do agree that it is an issue that needs to be addressed as part of the abolishing of hunting with hounds legislation.

It was weak last night, I agree.

Why no-one gave Hoon any abuse over his complete lack of ministerial responsibility I don't know.

Kwame from Casualty made some good points, but pissed me off a bit with his self-righteousness, particularly with the comment that we shouldn't be wasting our time talking about fox hunting when so many kids are dying in the world.
In some ways I can see what he was saying, but as the audience member said it's a moral issue and it doesn't matter how big or small it is, you either think it is right or wrong. And if it is wrong it should be stopped.

Ruth Lea, former head of the neo-fascist CBI, was awful as well.

It seemed to have an unusually dull and stupid audience.

When will politicians learn that we want them to deal with ISSUES not pathetic inter-party squabbles about who has got the biggest problems?

I did indeed, bad case of insomnia last night, I even watched the results come in and the little labour guy make the opint about 15 times that the by election victory was a kick in the teeth for the tories (fair enoguh, UKIP got more votes than them) and also for the Lib Dems as they had been thinking it was their seat. Didn't like him much.

To be fair to David Willetts, he really was given a short straw last night, put up as the spokesman to defend his tawdry party on one of the worst nights in their history. Thankless task, he's got to say something and at least he admitted it was a nightmare.

Glad to see it wasn't just me who stayed up to watch Question Time and the by election result.

Question Time was awful, and so was the audience. That actor was a self righteous tosser it has to be said. We all know Fox Hunting is a trivial issue but the fact is, a democratically elected government has decided to ban it and that should be the end of it. That's what they were commenting on, not that there are more important things in the world - you could apply that logic to virtually every decision ever made!

I quite like what Ruth Lea has to say sometimes but she was a waste of space yesterday, Geoff Hoon irritates me more every time I see him, the Tory was a sniping clown (and not very good at it) and the LibDem was the worst LibDem question time panelist I've ever seen.

And how I laughed at the comments after the by-election. The way I see it was that it was a reasonable but slightly worrying night for Labour, an encouraging if very slightly disappointing result for the LibDems, a very positive result for UKIP and a complete and utter total disaster for the Tories. Yet only the UKIP representitive seemed to agree with me.

According to the Tory in the studio, it was a "disappointing" result which is a bit like saying Hitler wasn't all that nice.

It was great to see '2 Brains' Willets squirm as the Tories came 4th.

The only policy they have is to rewind back to the '50s when everyone was white except a few "wog" bus drivers and dustmen, the gentry were able to take the piss, and you could get polio by going to the local public swimming baths.

Halcyon days indeed.

I agree, much better nowadays. You could sue the leisure department for millions on the whole polio thing. Or even stubbing your toe in the changing room.
