Apologies if this has already been posted and I missed it

QPR site is full of rumours of Clarke Carlisle going to Norwich City

So QPR get Tony Thorpe which weakens Luton and now get weakened themselves.

All good news for the Albion as our rivals lose players as we gain them

God it's good to be an Albion fan at the moment.

Is he all right after his clattering from Ben Roberts on Monday? And his treatment at the hands of the slowest stretcher bearers in England of course.

He went to hospital with a suspected kidney injury i believe... don't know what happened after that, he didn't look too good though. And as for the "slowest stretcher bearers" they're trained NOT to run onto the pitch, in case they fell over and resulted in another injury, and a right cock-up!

Excellent news.

Three victories in five days.

The Latest From Kenilworth Road

Newell confirms new arrival as he speaks out about Thorpe's departure

Luton Town manager Mike Newell has expressed his frustration at learning of Tony Thorpe's departure to fellow Second Division rivals Queens Park Rangers.

"We were disappointed to lose Tony," admitted the Hatters boss. "Not just because of the sort of player he is but the way that the transfer has been handled. It has been taken out of hands to a degree and his agent was involved long before we knew about it. I am disappointed, QPR had virtually agreed the deal before we were informed and they have been a situation similar to ourselves recently and you would have thought they would let us know out of courtesy.

"It is good business for them, I feel as though they've stolen him. He could have gone for nothing but we've managed to get a small fee for him but it is the way that they've got about it that disappoints me most.

"We are in a tight situation and they know that, he could have walked away for nothing and evoked the fourteen day ruling and whilst we have got something for him we all know he was worth more. I am disappointed to lose him, he'd started the season very well.

However the Luton manager was pleased to announce that young Coventry striker Gary McSheffrey has agreed to join the club on a one month loan spell. He added: "We saw Gary earlier this week against Leicester City and I think he will be a good addition to the squad here. We have two games over the weekend and some good games coming up in the next month and I am hoping that he'll show us what he is about during that time. Courtney Pitt has done well for us and I am really pleased. I would love to do something about him for longer however we are in a situation where every penny we spend is scrutinised and we will have to see what happens there. He has shown promise in such a short space of time, he has impressed and that can be difficult when you first arrive somewhere like he has, hopefully Gary too will settle as quickly and we can see some good things from him."

Coventry-born McSheffrey joins Luton from his home town club, having previously had a loan spell with Stockport County in 2001. He made his debut for the Sky Blues whilst he was still a trainee and having just turned 21 he has made over fifty appearances for the Highfield Road outfit.

At least we've got a manager who is allowed to take part in transfer deals.

:)
