Take a minute to read this...

I'll give my own example here, I used to go to alot of auditions, and the one thing I cant stand, I mean it drove me crazy, were these mums or dad with their little 'soldiers' or 'princesses'...an interesting bit on TV about it not so long ago.

I hate pushy parents.

No. If I wanted to read a newspaper I'd buy a Sunday broadsheet! But I totally agree with what you say - pushy parents are wankers, trying to help their own FAILED lives through living the remainder of it through their children's.

I used to have to face it every wekk as a junior (i hate that word) referee. DSo much so that I stopped doing kids football because i was nearly assaulted. pushy parents do live their failed lives through there kids and it is wrong.

I heard you and your brother were made to do ballet - until you were 16.

The FA have a superb online study module, Soccer Parent and I've encouraged loads of people who run junior clubs to either have their players' parents visit it or better yet have a club official deliver the training and appreciation to any new group of players parents.
If you have some time visit theFA.com and have a look... it's a top resource

I still got that sketch you drew of me on my bike with a scarf on! Absolute diamond. Waiting for you to become famous so I can sell it at auction.

I was looking at the Newport County official website the other day, the way you do. OK, maybe not you. But I do.

And I came across the Club's new "Supporters' Charter". It includes this:-

The supporters of Newport County AFC hereby agree to:-

1. respect and maintain constructive relationships with the directors, management, players and volunteers of the club;

2. attend home matches as regularly as possible to support the team and the club;

3. give their vocal support to encourage the football team at home and away matches;

4. abide by the ground regulations at Newport Stadium;

5. be ambassadors for the club at away matches by acting with respect and good humour and abiding by the ground regulations of stadiums visited;

6. avoid making critical and audible remarks or chants during matches which may undermine the confidence and self-belief of the club management and the playing staff;

7. take up enquiries, suggestions and complaints with the club through the correct channels;

8. act as advocates for the club by encouraging friends and family to attend home matches and support social events and fund-raising activities;

9. support the fund-raising activities of the club and its supporter organisations as they can afford; and

10. offer their time and skills as volunteers to help the club and its supporter organisations.

How many of us would be comfortable with all of those terms applying to Albion matches?

I particularly like 6 & 7:-

6. avoid making critical and audible remarks or chants during matches which may undermine the confidence and self-belief of the club management and the playing staff;

7. take up enquiries, suggestions and complaints with the club through the correct channels;

Anyone for a chant of
Oi! Leon! Check your e-mail on Monday morning!
