The whole thrust of the NUM's argument during the miners strike was that once closed , the pits would never be able to reopen because lack of maintenance would lead to flooding and subsidence.

The thought of all the five-a-day advisors,outreach workers,helpline operatives,co-ordinators,translators,managers,under-managers,line managers,trainers,useless social workers,recycling operators that don't collect,street cleaners that don't clean,etc etc ad nauseam,ad infinitum,brought me out in a cold sweat.....not.Who would notice?

yes, its good to see Bob Crow having a firm grasp on the reality of the country's economics.

never bought that, we'll see how things go in the future when the open cast pits are spent and deep cast mines become economic again.

Someone has to stand up to the Bullingdon Bullies.

i know, those tyranical people keeping the working class down by having dinner together. Im sure Mr Crow never spends more than a few quid on lunch, despite running up yearly expenses to embaress an MP.

@ Leebrook, no? "deep mine" just sound like its missing an word.
