Walsall defender Paul Ritchie is investigated by police after being sent off in the tunnel following his side's 2-1 defeat at Millwall.
Ritchie was earlier one of eight players cautioned by referee Phil Prosser but carried on his altercation with the official after the game.
Prosser then issued a second yellow card before Ritchie was involved in another incident - which is being investigated by the police.
Walsall boss Colin Lee admitted he saw the incident but refused to elaborate further.
He said: "I saw it, a few of the players saw it, as did some stewards.
"But unfortunately the cameras in the tunnel were turned off, according to Millwall's chairman.
"It was a nothing situation which has been blown up out of all proportion.
"But I'm not prepared to comment any further.
"It is incredible that we end up talking about the referee and not the attempt to play football.
"There were two major decisions which went against us and they contributed to our defeat," said Lee.
