The Albion hosted a fringe meeting at - appropriately - the Royal Albion Hotel tonight to explain the stadium situation to conference delegates.

I was there with Paul Samrah arranging the room when we decided we needed a drink. Paul went upstairs to be informed that Tony Blair was arriving in a couple of minutes for a union function, so we grabbed some of our literature and returned upstairs.

Two minutes later we were standing in line in the foyer when in came Tony with Cherie. As they approached I said, "Prime Minister, can I give you a seaside postcard from Brighton?" (This was one of our four-picture postcards we sent to MPs a few months ago.)

He stopped and accepted it, and said, "What's this then?" As Paul handed Cherie some more campaign literature, I said, "It's about the stadium at Falmer."

Cherie then asked, "Yes, what's it all about?" in a very interested manner. Paul whispered to her, "It's with John Prescott at the moment."

At this point the Prime Minister said something along the lines of "Ah, ministerial decision" and that was the end of the conversation. They moved off into the function room.

But it shows that the campaign we have mounted over the past few days and indeed months - and years! - is getting through right to the very top of the Government!

THey left about 15 minutes later, just saying "Hello" to all the people now gathered there.

In addition, Alan Keen MP (chairman of the All Party Football Group) was at the meeting and praised the campaign. This has been expressed to me by other delegates as well. They appreciate the humour, the fact that we are not attacking the Government or Labour Party like other protestors are, but using that humour in banners along the sea-front etc. The revelry of yesterday's march was greatly appreciated. The message is getting through.

And not only that, I also spoke to Richard Caborn at a fringe meeting today who was extremely supportive.

Quite a day. We are going to win this!!

Thanks to all those volunteers who gave up time to help with the lobbying of conference delegates. It is much appreciated.

Tonight was bizarre - handing Falmer campaign leaflets to Tony & Cherie Blair. For Cherie to ask "What exactly is happening with the stadium?" (her exact words, and said with genuine interest) was brilliant.

We have also arranged for campaign literature to be personally delivered to John Prescott's room at The Metropole.

People at Conference today were extremely complimentary about the march - "I wish all demonstrations were like yours" "Your march was very colourful and fun".

Campaign leaflets given to Frank Field, Alastair Darling, Lord Faulkner, Stephen Byers amongst others inside Conference. As I handed them the leaflets, I mentioned they were about the City's proposed stadium - back came the response "at Falmer"...

Without a shadow of doubt, we have achieved our objective - to ensure that delegates leave Brighton on Thursday knowing what the single most important issue is to the local community.

To everyone, big thanks because we did it together - united as always.

And together, WE WILL WIN.

It just goes to show that our humour and and good natured lobbying is in stark contrast to the bitterness and nastiness being shown by the Nimbys

This is great news.

Without being sexist as every man knows once the wife starts on at you to get something done............

"Tony , just tell John to get it sorted. Those boys in Brighton were lovely"

Maybe Cherie could be the key so to speak.

In his speech today Tony Blair referred to the original Labour Pledge Cards of 1997 & 2001.

The FFA team were one step ahead, having printed 8,000 cards - with the Club's very own pledges .....our cards now have even greater relevance with TB pushing the Pledges and citing John Prescott's original involvement with them.

Pledge cards were distributed to delegates by the NSC volunteers on Sunday, Monday & today + we distributed them to various hotels & restaurants in the City.

Our Pledge Cards will therefore certainly register with the delegates.

The All Party Football Group appreciated the humour at Withdean on Sunday morning.

The commentary was hilarious. :lolol:

And there was a Conference delegate from Wrexham at the meeting - expressing his concerns about what's happening at the Racecourse Ground under the Hamilton/Gutterman regime.

I was able to mention the red card protest at the Wrexham game last season and the plans for a Fans United event at the Racecourse Ground, involving Albion supporters, later this season. Dick Knight mentioned the "Taxi For Gutterman" banner. And Bob Carden, Chair of the City Council's Planning Committee, was able to advise the Wrexham delegate to lobby his council to ensure that no demolition be permitted until a new stadium had been built to replace it.

Mark McGhee chipped in to say that a Wrexham -v- Albion tie in the Cup would be worth having.

I don't know why the Falmer For All team think it's worth cozying up to the Blairite faction in the Labour Party.

Can't they see the writing on the wall?

The future's bright, the future's Brown.
