If Blair resigned (as the press suggest he has been considering doing for the past few weeks) presumably Prescott would take over as Acting Prime Minister, at least in the interim until Labour MPs can elect a new leader. If this happened where would that leave the duties of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister - such as, for example, ruling on planning issues like Falmer? Would all those responsibilities have to go on the backburner? I can't stand Tony Blair but I find myself wanting the bloke to stick it out at least until after the Falmer ruling, just in case.
