When you are recording a commentary for your powerpoint slideshow, how can you have the commentary continuous through the slideshow, without small gaps where the commentary stops everytime you change slide?

hope that makes sense.
cheers

does this help ???

How to Set Continuous Music or Sound to a PowerPoint Presentation

1. Open the presentation.

2. On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, then do one of the following:
a. Click Sound from File, search for and select the sound file and/or Track#. Click OK.

A small speaker icon appears on the slide. Click Yes for sound to begin playing automatically in the slide show.

b. Click Sound from Clip Organizer, search for and select the Sound Clip. A small speaker icon appears on the slide. Click Yes for sound to begin playing automatically in the slide show.

c. Click Play CD Audio Track; select the Start and End Time and Track. A small speaker icon appears on the slide. Click Yes for sound to begin playing automatically in the slide show.

3. Important: To adjust the settings for the sound file, right-click on the sound icon. On the pop-up menu select Custom Animation.

4. Click the down arrow next to sound file/track you selected. Choose Effect Options.

5. In the Play Sound dialog box under the Effect tab Start Playing: Place a dot next to From beginning. Stop playing: place a dot next to After and put the number for the last slide in your presentation. Click OK.

thank you clapham gull for your help.

unfortunately we want to talk and be able to control the movements in the slides as we go so that when it is watched back as we say stuff the relvant bits of text come flying in or whatever.

we will just have to do it with tiny gaps in sound in between the slides. it will still be wicked.

cheers.

In that case I would simply cue the audio file in Windows media player, and play at the same time as the powerpoint presentation.

thanks again clapham gull, unfortunately we want to send this presentation on a cd for someone to look at without us present so it needs to be simple. this cueing up media player at the same time thing is unfortunately too complicated.

cheers

In that case use the timer option to ensure that your slides run to a certain time then record your piece using the same time timings. If you are putting it on a CD you may need to put the speech file on it as well otherwise the presentation will be silent, I'd check with a floppy first.
