...in this tournament, they only ever threaten the goal when wonder step-over boy Ronaldo gets on the ball and I think Gary Neville will eat him up. Other than that they seem to lack attackingness and look dodgy in defence and overall hav'nt played well in any game yet. They should've trounced the Spainish but could'nt where as we did finish the job against the Croats. Think we will go into the match as the faves and just hope we can keep the steam roller rolling onto victory.

There is no one else I'd rather have facing C Ronaldo than Gary Neville. The senior chuckle brother has been superb in this tournament (well apart from the first half v Switzerland).

We definatley wont be favorites Crabtree.
And that is a good thing, its going to be a good game with quite a few goals i think.

I wouldnt theyre Portugese ! ! ! !

but I believe the Portugese and the Italians and Spanish for that matter are traditionally more skillful with the ball than the English (generally, theres always exceptions) . . .but they lack the self belief and physicality of our teams and players, ROnaldo for example . . .fancy step overs etc . . . .then along comes Scholes HOOF!! up in the air . . .or Gary Neville will clatter the shit out of him early on with any luck :lolol:

Portugal are no great shakes but England have a poor record against host nations in major tournaments:ohmy:

so what . . .as Wing nut reminded all viewers last night we'd never won a competitive Euro cup game on foreign soil before

there will always be good and bad stats . . . .as long as we play to our strengths and not Portugals we'll be beating Germany in the semi final :lolol:

The only thing that worries me about the Portugal game is if we start giving away free kicks within Ronaldo's range. Three of the four goals we've conceeded thus far have been from set pieces - and the other was a pen.

good point . . .we're good defending in open play but we may as well be off the pitch at set plays, we've made it very easy for people to score against us

What? Cole's much faster than Figo, personally I think he's improved greatly as a defender this season

Figo's been poor so far - they were pretty awful against Spain, we just need to be careful we don't get swamped in midfield by their 5 versus our 4 - mark Pauleta/Nuno Gomes out of the game and hope we can out battle them and get the ball to Rooney and Owen

I don't think one team has put in an impressive full 90 minutes so far except Sweden maybe so I see no reason why we shouldn't win just three more games

I think we'll give them a good game. If Gerrard/ Rooney/ Owen/ Beckham and Lampard are on their games (ok I know Beckham and Owen haven't had a great Tournament so far, but they still have time) we should certainly cause Portugal a few problems.

Don't forget how much expectation the Portuguese have on their shoulders...
